How Sonelier uses and protects personal information.
Who we are
Sonelier is operated by Nathan Shin, at 5568 av. Adalbert, Côte-Saint-Luc, QC H4W 2B2, Canada. As proprietor and privacy lead, Nathan Shin handles privacy requests, complaints and incidents, and oversees access, providers and retention. What we collect and why
We use the account and organization details you provide, sign-in information, billing details and usage records to run your account and payments. Messages you send us help us respond to support and privacy requests. Connection information, including IP addresses and error reports, helps us secure the service, prevent abuse and fix problems.
We process host audio, supplied scripts and terminology, captions, translations and room settings to provide broadcasts and their history. Speech and scripts can contain sensitive personal information. Hosts must inform speakers and obtain the necessary permissions.
Audio and sharing
We process the host’s audio and supplied scripts through OpenAI to generate live captions, translations and synthetic speech. Captions and translations are stored for broadcast history and shared with the selected audience. Optional AI services and the providers supporting accounts, payments and storage are described in Service providers.
Hosts and their organizations choose the content and audience and have their own privacy responsibilities. We remain responsible for our own processing. Participants may keep their own copies. Information can be processed outside Québec and Canada, including in the United States, where different privacy laws apply. We may also disclose information when legally required.
Retention and deletion
Completed broadcasts and their captions are scheduled for deletion after 90 days. Interrupted broadcasts follow the same period from their last recorded activity. Cleanup can be delayed by outages. Your plan may give access to a shorter history; this does not change the deletion schedule. Room settings and saved scripts remain until the room or related account is deleted.
Account deletion removes your sign-in account, personal rooms, saved templates and associated history. Deletion may take longer during service interruptions. Organization content is managed separately and is not automatically removed when a member leaves. Contact us for help with shared content or a deletion request.
Some billing, security, free-trial usage and consent records remain for accounting, preventing abuse, handling requests and meeting legal obligations or resolving disputes. These records are not necessarily anonymous. Provider records and backups may follow different retention periods. You can ask what we retain, why and for how long.
Cookies and protection
Essential cookies keep you signed in, and browser storage remembers preferences such as language and recent rooms. Clearing this storage may sign you out or reset preferences. Sign-in and payment providers may use their own cookies. We restrict access to people who need the information and use safeguards to protect it; no service can guarantee complete security.
Your rights and requests
Contact [email protected] to request access, correction, a copy, deletion or withdrawal of consent. Where applicable, you can request your information in a commonly used, structured format. You do not need a Sonelier account to contact us. Turning off the microphone stops new audio collection; it does not erase existing history. Withdrawing necessary processing may prevent the related service.
We may verify your identity, explain any refusal or required retention, and respond within applicable deadlines, including Québec’s 30-day deadline for access and correction. You may complain to us or the Commission d’accès à l’information du Québec. We will announce material policy changes and seek new consent when required.
